Here I will dicuss the movies I have watched recently. When I watch a new movie it becomes the best movie I have ever seen until I watch another.
I watched the first avatar movie in 2009 with my dad who fell asleep halfway through. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the film and couldn't believe that such a world could exist. I, of course, found the tall blue cat people very very attractive. It would be an understatement to say that Jake Sully was a childhood crush. Maybe in another life time I will be a beautiful blue cat lady.
Pillion was a beautiful story about Two men falling in love. It was freakier than expected. The Top, played by, Alexander Skarsgard, Swedish honk, had been promoting the movie all last fall. I just assumed Sweden, a land of sexual liberation, meant that the men there just enjoyed leather short shorts. Anyway I had a great time, cried at the end of the movie and laughed at it's dry humor. Watching miscommunication and misinterpretation of flirting, sexual chemistry, felt like second nature. The most haunting part of the night was the bar we went to while waiting for the showing. A strikingly handsome brunette man, the bartender, pale skin and dark hair, had piercing blue eyes. Like the type in the Miley Cyrus meme. Despite my inability to even look him in the eye, I ended up explaining Pillon to him in grave detail. Branding it as a beautiful story of a Dom and a Sub. I was immediately embarrassed. As all my friends packed up and left, I looked back and he waved at me. I didn't wave back. I don't think I can ever show my face in Capitol again
This was the first movie I saw in 2025 and also the first movie I saw with my friends Victoria, Dawson, and Qaanita. Marking the start of a tradtion where we watch horror movies together. This is one of the most beautiful yet disgusting movie off all time. This movie was a goth dream come true. The colour grading and the special camera fliters designed for the filmation paid off. I have seen this movie several times since it's release. Although branded as a horror, I found it to be slightly humorous. The best part of this movie is that for weeks that followed, my friends kept repeating " You must bounce on it crazy style" in the Count Orlok accent. For that reason alone, you should watch it.
Movies like this rejuvenate class horror tropes, in this case, the greedy and sinful vampire. Of course the commentary about racism in the deep south can not be missed but the best part of this movie is the sound track. The use of music in this movie made me wish it was longer. I would watch the extended cut of this movie even if it was 4 hours long. I wish I could know more about each character. Lastly, we cannot forget the visual fan service, TWO Michael B Jordans. I can't imagine a better movie than vampires and sexy men.
I cannot stand avoidant men and their superpower of making themselves the victim no matter what. I think my friends Emily and Justin showed this to me to ruin my night.
I watched this with my dear friends Qaanita and Victoria. Body horror is my least liked form of horror. This movie did not disappoint with how the frames moved between grotesque and uncomfortable. While I did find it to be a little virture signalling and very french in it's filmation, the end will haunt me forever. You should watch this if you are a woman who hates plastic surgery (like me) but has a long list of work she wants done (like I do).
I will not sit here and pretend I knew what was going on. I just know what happened was most likely deep and profound. This was the most confusing hour of my life. However, one of the most ethereal movies I have ever seen. Best part of the night was watching it with my friend Lauren and Qaanita.
